How to Prepare Your Yard for Spring
With the right additions, your yard can be even more attractive to visiting birds.
Bird Feeding Stations
Adding a WBU Advanced Pole System® bird feeding station with feeders can help attract more birds to your yard. More feeders, spread farther apart, can reduce overcrowding and help lessen birds’ stress.
Also, by offering new or different foods in your new feeders, you’ll attract a greater variety of birds to your yard.
Bird Baths
Birds need water to keep their feathers in top-flight condition and for good insulation on cool spring nights. Add a decorative bird bath that is bird-friendly. We carry a variety of ceramic, concrete and other styles.
Clean your existing bird baths with a 10% bleach (one part bleach to nine parts water) solution. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to completely dry. Refill your bird baths with fresh water at least once a week.
Gardening
Use native plants to attract pollinators like birds, butterflies and bees, such as milkweeds for Monarch Butterflies, asters, goldenrods, blue-eyed grass, bergamot, beardtongue, native grass species, and many others. Not only will you will "birdscape" your yard but also add beauty to your garden. New research shows that small habitats can add up to a big difference.
