Capital Feathers Beginner Bird Walk – Sunday, June 1

Are you curious about birdwatching but unsure where to begin? Join us for a free beginner bird walk designed to help you discover the joy of birding in a welcoming, relaxed setting.

Led by local birder Dahlia Ippolito, this guided walk will introduce you to common local species and offer helpful tips for spotting, identifying, and appreciating the birds around us.

What to Expect:

Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours

Terrain: Primarily flat, paved pathways with some natural trails through grassy and wooded areas

Birds We May See: Warblers, swallows, woodpeckers, waterfowl, and more

Bonus Stop: We'll visit the Purple Martin colony at nearby Dick Bell Park

Meet Your Guide:

Dahlia Ippolito is a passionate naturalist, ornithologist, and environmentalist with over 8 years of birding experience. She has studied under Ontario’s renowned Michael Runtz, volunteered at the Innis Point Bird Observatory, and currently works at the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre. Dahlia brings a unique and engaging perspective to the world of birdwatching.

Space is limited to 20 participants and registration is required.
